Personalised birthday presents for '126-year-old' Cuban woman?
Personalised birthday presents may have been given to a Cuban woman who celebrated what is said to be her 126th birthday yesterday (February 2nd).
According to state media, Juana Bautista de la Candelaria Rodriguez marked the occasion in Campechuela, Gramna, with the ACN Cuban News Agency reporting she was happy with the festivities that were held in her honour.
A celebration attended by journalists, government municipal leaders, the Federation of Women of Cuba and international agencies was held, while Ramon Rodriguez, first secretary of Campechuela's Cuban Communist Party, passed on the best wishes of the Cuban people.
However, the Associated Press noted that her age is not recognised by the Gerontology Research Group in Los Angeles, which is used by Guinness World Records to verify information, meaning American Besse Cooper, 114, is officially the world's oldest person.
The Daily Mail recently reported that another Cuban - Ignacio Cubilla Banos - celebrated his 111th birthday in January with a slice of cake and a few puffs on a cigar.
